First Time Home Buyer Program By Homepath
Dated: April 15 2015
Looks like Fannie Mae is trying to recuperate it's loses from their overpriced listings not selling
fast enough. Sure they make it easier for owner occupants and first time home buyers to place
offers on homes, but at what cost?
When the market hit rock bottom, Fannie Mae came out with the Homepath Program.
NO APPRAISAL REQUIRED, which no longer exists, they are trying to attract Home Buyers
again by offering 3% towards closing costs by completing an online Buyer Education course.
I have seen the list prices for Fannie Mae come down slightly but they are still holding on to
their properties for 30, 60 days before they see it's not selling and then drop their list price.
Considering they are part of our government "sponsored" branch, Fannie Mae should stop
trying to control the market by holding on to their properties and over pricing their listings.
As well, some Homepath properties are also being remodeled. So there is a bright side to all of this.
Considering barely any other sellers are offering any type of closing cost assistance, if you are a
First-Time Home Buyer with limited funds for closing, 3% towards closing costs is GREAT...even from
The more you can take from them the better. There are other ways to get closing cost
assistance, such as the MAP programs through city or county training courses. But they could be
tedious and not many options in lenders or banks when it comes time to get a loan.
